The Story Behind Seasons of Grace

Seasons of Grace began with a dream. In 2018, Sorena Rawlins had a vivid vision of feeding the homeless for Thanksgiving. The next morning, she shared the dream with her husband. With his immediate support, Sorena felt compelled to act. She informed her family that they would be feeding the homeless that November—and their response was overwhelming. Parents, siblings, cousins, aunts, and uncles all came together without hesitation to support the cause.

What started as a single act of kindness blossomed into something bigger. The experience was such a blessing that the family decided to do it again for Christmas that same year. While serving meals to those in need, other organizations began to take notice, offering opportunities to partner and grow. But at the time, Sorena’s only goal was simple: to feed people.

With each outing, more members of the community began to recognize and look forward to their presence. Yet despite the growing support and interest, Sorena didn’t feel called to expand—until one cold Christmas Eve changed everything.

That night, a man approached them asking for a blanket. They had none left. Without hesitation, Sorena’s brother took off his own shirt and gave it to the man. That act of selfless compassion marked a turning point.

From that moment forward, Sorena knew she had to do more. By 2022, she expanded their efforts to include not just meals, but hygiene essentials and blankets. The mission evolved into something deeper—meeting the physical and emotional needs of the unhoused with dignity and grace.

In 2024, Sorena officially launched Seasons of Grace Nonprofit of Tampa Bay, transforming her dream into a lasting legacy of service and compassion with the continued support of her family and friends.
